Prices Paid to Hospitals by Private Health Plans: Findings from Round 5 of an Employer-Led Transparency Initiative

Improved transparency in health care pricing may improve employers’ ability to appropriately manage and administer benefits, including benefit design, for employees. The study provides an opportunity to compare hospital and health system prices. The Employers’ Forum of Indiana offers a nice summary deck. According to the study, employers and private insurers paid more than 250% of what Medicare would have paid for the same services at the same facilities.

Survey: Mental Health Worsens for 34% of US Workers

Recently conducted research by the Conference Board CHRO Confidence Index suggests that employees are struggling with mental health, which can have a significant impact on worker performance. Programs to support mental health and well-being for workers may be decreasing. Of the programs that are offered, many are not being used, creating an excellent opportunity for providers to collaborate with employers to engage employees for improved health, wellness, and productivity.
